This is a stainless steel and 18k yellow gold Cartier Santos Octagon Automatic. It has an integral stainless steel link bracelet with yellow gold screws and a hidden triple deployment clasp, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a protected pull out winding crown set with a faceted sapphire spinel, and a solid case back secured with 8 screws, and engraved with "CARTIER – AUTOMATIQUE," and a serial number. The 29mm diameter solid two-body case, screwed lugs, and flat 18k gold octagonal bezel with 8 screws, are polished/brushed. The dial is white with black painted Roman numeral hour markers, and the secret Cartier signature on the VII. It has blued steel epee hands, a center sweep seconds hand, and there is a perimeter railroad-style minute/second track. There is a date aperture window at 3 o'clock, and the 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Santos Octagon Automatic has a mechanical automatic self-winding Cartier caliber AO77 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The Cartier Santos Octagon Automatic was introduced in 1990, and it was produced until 1999.
