More about Jaeger LeCoultre Q6042521 Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire 18K Rose Gold

This is an 18K rose gold Jaeger LeCoultre Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire, Q6042521. It has a leather strap with a matching 18K rose gold deployant buckle. The solid 40.5mm diameter three-body case, angled bezel and lugs are polished and brushed. There is a rectangular date adjustment pushbutton at 10 o'clock, and it has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and a sapphire case back secured with four screws. The dial is silver with off center registers and applied gold Arabic quarter numerals and painted baton indexes. The minute/hour dial is between 1 and 3 o'clock, and a subsidiary seconds foudroyante meter is at the 6 o'clock position; it completes one full revolution per second, and it's divided into a number of jumps (sections). This is a new "jumping stop second" function that allows the chronograph to measure 1/6 of a second for setting the time. The moon phase dial is between 9 and 11 o'clock, registering the date and age of the moon. There are rose gold feuille hands for the mean time, and blued steel hands for the date. There are 50-hour twin power reserve indicators bracing the foudroyante, and it's water resistant to 50 meters (150 feet). The 13.4mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The manual winding Jaeger LeCoultre "dual wing" caliber 381 movement is rhodium-plated, constructed with 40 jewels and 374 components. It has duo spring barrels, blued steel screws, and a shock absorber mechanism. There is a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, and a self- compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at 21,600 vph (3 Hz).

This watch was designed as an aesthetic homage to the pocket watch.
