More about Longines Rare Vintage 13ZN Chronograph SS

This is a vintage 1942 steel Longines Chronograph with the venerable 13ZN caliber. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has a solid snap-on case back, and a single rectangular chronograph pushbutton at the 2 o'clock position on the case. The 36mm diameter three-body case, and downturned lugs are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with painted stick and Roman numeral hour markers and outer, multi-color tachymeter and telemeter tracks. It has blued leaf hands and a center sweep chronograph hand. There is an inner minute/second track with 1/5-second divisions and Arabic numerals every five minutes. There is a constant seconds subsidiary dial at the 9 o'clock position, and a 30-minute chronograph register at 3 o'clock. The 13.4mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This mechanical manual winding Longines caliber 13ZN movement is frosted gilt. It was constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a bi-metallic balance. It includes a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and index regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph.
