More about Vacheron Constantin Vintage Manual Wind 18K Yellow Gold Circa 1955

This is a vintage c. 1955 Vacheron Constantin Manual Wind. It has a leather strap with an 18K yellow gold tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has a pull out winding crown, and a solid polished snap on case back. The inside of the case back is engine turned and engraved with "VACHERON CONSTANTIN – SWISS - 323132," and several hallmarks. The 35.8mm diameter solid two-body case, fancy "ringed" tear drop lugs, and flat bezel are polished. The original dial is silver guilloche with gold applied Arabic numeral hour markers at the quarter hours, faceted gold diamond and baton indices, and there is a perimeter "pearl" dot minute/second scale. It has gold baton hands, and a center sweep second hand with an ovoid counter balance. The 9.3mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Vacheron Constantin Manual Wind has a mechanical manual winding Vacheron Constantin caliber P454/5B movement. It's rhodium plated, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance adjusted to temperature. It includes a shock absorber device, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a swan neck micrometer index regulator.
