More about Breitling 7656 Co Pilot Top Time 7656 Circa 1970

This is a vintage c. 1970 stainless steel Breitling Co Pilot Top Time 7656. It has a cordovan leather strap with a stainless steel Breitling tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has round chronograph push butttons, a screw-down winding crown, and a screw-down solid case back engraved with "BREITLING – WATER RESISTANT – SHOCK RESISTANT – ANTIMAGNETIC – STAINLESS STEEL – SWISS MADE – 7656," and a serial number. The inside of the anti-magnetic case back is engraved "BREITLING WATCH LTD." The 42.5mm solid three-body case, straight angled lugs, and flat black bi-directional rotating bezel with 12-hour Arabic markers and a luminous triangle at 12 o'clock, are polished/brushed. The "Panda" dial is black with recessed silver subsidiary dials, luminous baton and dot hour indices, steel baton hands with luminous inserts, and a center sweep chronograph hand. It has a minute/one-fifth second scale, and around the perimeter is a tachymeter ring to 1000 UPH. There is a subsidiary small running seconds register at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute chronograph totalizer at the 3 o'clock position. It has a 45-hour power reserve at full wind, and the 15mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Breitling Co Pilot Top Time 7656 has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 7736 movement. This was a manual wind caliber that measured up to 12 hours, rhodium plated, had 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight–line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic anti-magnetic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a micrometer regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz).

The Breitling Co Pilot Top Time 7656 was first introduced in 1970, and it was produced until 1978.
