More about Perpetual Calendar 18K Yellow Gold

This is a rare 1986 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3940 early First Series. It has a leather strap with an 18K yellow gold tang buckle, and a glass crystal. There is a pull out winding crown and a snap on solid case back with a thumb clip, inside of which are engraved 4 hallmarks, and "PATEK PHILIPPE-GENEVE-SWISS," and a serial number. There is a corrector in the left-side case band at 9 o'clock for the perpetual calendar, and the 36mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and stepped bezel are polished. The silver dial has "boat-shaped" gold baton and square hour markers around a dot minute track. There is a recessed moon phase subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock, with a combined radial date indicator and a gold hand. There are twin recessed white subsidiary dials, including a combination day and 24-hour register at 9 o'clock, and a combination month with leap year sub dial is at 3 o'clock. It has a 46-hour power reserve at full wind, and it’s water resistant to 25 meters/80 feet. The 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3940 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Patek Philippe caliber 240 Q movement that's rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It has the Seal of Geneva quality seal, and it's constructed with 27 jewels, 275 parts, and a lateral lever escapement with three arms under a polished steel bridge. It has a 22K winding rotor with the Patek Philipppe Calatrava symbol, and a patented Patek Philippe Gyromax balance that adjusts for cold, heat, isochronism and 5 positions. It includes a shock absorber mechanism, and a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring. The Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3940 First Series was introduced in 1985, and was discontinued in 2006.
