More about Vintage RCAF Monopusher Chronograph HB1605

This is a vintage 1950s stainless steel Rodania RCAF Monopusher Chronograph, 6W/16. It has a cordovan leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle. The single pusher at 2 o'clock starts, stops and resets the sweep seconds hand and the 30 minute totalizer. There is a screw-down solid case back engraved with military markings, including the reference 6W/16. The 36mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The original dial is white with applied Tritium dot hour markers, luminous Arabic numerals at 6 and 12 o'clock, a black minute/seconds track around the perimeter, and center sweep chronograph hand. There is a constant small seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute totalizer is at 3 o'clock. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rodania is powered by the mechanical manual winding Venus caliber 175. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. It has a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. This rare Rodania RCAF Monopusher Chronograph, reference 6W/16, was issued to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in the 1950s, and was later utilized by the Royal Navy as well.
