More about Omega 311. Speedmaster CK 2998 Silver / Blue Dial SS LIMITED

This is a stainless steel Omega Speedmaster CK2998 311. It has a blue, coated nylon and leather strap with a foldover push-release clasp, and a sapphire crystal. There is a solid screw-down case back embossed with the original seahorse, "Speedmaster" and Omega logo. Engraved on the outer ring of the case back is "CK2998", "Limited Edition", and "1227/2998". There is a fixed, polished blue ceramic bezel with a graduated tachymeter to 500 UPH, round chronograph pushbuttons, and a winding crown with the Omega logo. The 39.7mm diameter solid three-body case and lyre lugs are polished/brushed. The dial is an opaline silver with blue subdials, applied rhodium-plated baton hour markers with superluminova pips around a minute/one-fifth seconds perimeter scale, luminous rhodium-plated "Alpha" hands, and a center-sweep, lollipop chronograph hand with a luminous tip. There are three subsidiary dials including a constant small seconds register at the 9 o'clock position, a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute sub dial is at 3 o'clock. It's water resistant to 50 meters/167 feet, and it has a power reserve of 48-hours at full wind. The 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The mechanical, manual-winding Omega caliber 1861 movement is rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a micrometer regulator.

The Omega "CK2998" Limited Edition was introduced in 2016 as a tribute to the original 2998 that was released in 1959 and has gone on to become one of the most sought-after vintage Speedmasters in the world.
