More about Explorer II Black Dial
This is a stainless steel Rolex Oyster Explorer II 16570. It has an integral 904L stainless steel oyster bracelet with the folding Oysterlock safety clasp, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a solid screw-down case back and a screw down winding crown with squared crown guards. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, integral lugs, and flat fixed bezel are polished/brushed. It has a black dial with luminous SuperLuminova "Mercedes" Rolex hands, a center sweep seconds hand with a luminous circular tip, and luminous dot, baton, and triangular hour markers. There is a red GMT second time zone hand with a luminous triangular tip that indicates the fixed bezel with an engraved 24-hour scale; the second time zone has independent rapid setting by the hour hand. The date aperture with a Cyclops bubble-magnifying lens is at 3 o'clock, and included is the Officially Certified Superlative Chronometer (COSC) certification. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and it has a 50-hour power reserve at full wind. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Oyster Explorer II 16570 has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber 3186 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and it's constructed with 31 jewels, a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers. It has bidirectional self-winding via a perpetual rotor, a Glucydor monometallic balance, a hacking seconds device for precision time setting, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Rolex Oyster Explorer II 16570 was introduced in 1971, the heir to the Explorer, which was designed to be a precision guide tool for volcanologists, explorers, and speleologists. It was discontinued in 2011.
