This is a vintage c. 1970 stainless steel Heuer Autavia Chronograph 7763. It has a shell cordovan strap with a stainless steel deployment clasp, and an acrylic crystal. It includes a pull out signed winding crown, and round chronograph push buttons. The 39mm diameter solid three-body case, straight lugs, and bi-directional rotating knurled black bezel with a white 60-minute elapsed time scale, are polished/brushed. The dial is black with partially skeletonized pointed steel baton hands with luminous inserts. There are rectangular applied steel hour markers with luminous end-pips, surrounded by a perimeter luminous white minute/one-fourth second scale with red hour indices. There are twin recessed silver subsidiary dials with black Arabic numerals and markers, and steel indicator hands, including a running small constant seconds register at 9 o’clock, and there is a 30-minute chronograph totalizer at the 3 o’clock position. It includes a crimson red center sweep chronograph seconds hand. It has a 48-hour power reserve at full winding, it’s water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Heuer Autavia Chronograph 7763 has a mechanical manual winding Heuer caliber 7730 (based on the Valjoux caliber 72) column wheel chronograph movement. It’s constructed with 17 jewels, an anti-shock device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a self-compensating flat balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18000 vph (2.5 Hz). The Heuer Autavia Chronograph 7763 was introduced in the 1960’s.
