More about Historiques American 1921 Platinum

This is a platinum Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921, 82035/000R-9359. It has an alligator leather strap and a matching platinum Vacheron tang buckle. The solid, cushion-shaped case, angled and rounded bezel, and pillar-shaped square lapidated lugs are polished. It has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a sapphire display case back secured with 4 screws. The dial is matte silver with blue Arabic numeral hour markers, blued Breguet style hands, and an outer track with minute divisions. The dial is off-centered and the winding crown is at the 1:30 position on the wrist. There is a subsidiary brushed silver seconds dial at the 4 o'clock position, and it has a 65-hour power reserve. It's water resistant to 30 meters, and the 8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The manual winding Vacheron Constantin caliber 4400 AS Movement is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It has the quality hallmark of Geneva. It's constructed with 21 jewels, 127 components, and a shock absorber mechanism. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Historiques collection, reinvigorated in 2005, was dedicated to horological purists and aficionados of Vacheron Constantin. Their goal was to introduce a new reinterpretation of the company's historical timepieces each year. The American 1921, with its round dial, tonneau case and 20's art deco shape, debuted in the spring of 2009.
