More about Submariner RED MK IV Circa 1973 SS

This is a vintage stainless steel Rolex Red Submariner 1680. It has an integral stainless steel Rolex USA rivet Oyster bracelet. The three-body case is polished and brushed with a screw down case back and crown. It has a graduated bidirectional revolving black bezel showing decompression times, and a crown guard protects the Triplock winding crown. The "Top Hat" acrylic crystal has a Cyclops bubble that magnifies the date at 3 o'clock. This has an MKIV black dial and the original luminous steel skeleton hands and dot, triangular, and baton hour index markers. It has a center sweep seconds hand, an outer track with minute/seconds divisions, and a Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) certification. It's water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), and the 15mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Red Submariner 1680 has a mechanical automatic winding Rolex calibre 1570 movement that's rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 26 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, a self-compensating free- sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting.
