This is a vintage c. 1940's 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava 565. The inside of the case back is engine turned and stamped with "PATENT – PATEK PHILIPPE & CO. – GENEVE – SWISS – REF. 565," a serial number, and several hallmarks. The 34.5mm diameter solid two-body case, screwed downturned lugs, and flat bezel, are polished. The original silvered dial has gold feuille hands, boat" shape applied gold baton hour indices, and applied gold Arabic numerals at the quarter hours. It has a 38-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Calatrava 565 has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 12 PS movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment, and it's constructed with 20 jewels, a bi-metallic balance, the quality seal of Geneva, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, a swan-neck micrometer regulator, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 19,800 vph (2.75 Hz). The Patek Philippe 565 was originally introduced in 1938.
