More about Glashutte Original 100-02-22-12-04 Senator Perpetual Calendar SS

This is a stainless steel Glashutte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar, 100-02-22-12-04. It has a leather strap with a matching stainless steel deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It has a sapphire display case back secured with 5 screws, calendar adjusters in the mid case, and a winding crown set with a cabochon sapphire. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and stepped inclined bezel are polished. The dial is white with black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute/seconds track, blued dauphine hands and a center sweeps second hand. There is a double-digit big date aperture window at the 4 o'clock position, and a moon phase dial between 7 and 8 o'clock. A rectangular window for the month is at 2 o'clock, and there is a leap year indicator beneath the logo at 12 o'clock with red signifying a leap year.

The second hand can be reset to zero by a separate button on the case at 8 o'clock that significantly reduces stress on the components, and allows easy synchronization of the second hand with a time standard. The second hand is independent and isn't connected to the winding stem or the crown; when the crown is pulled out, the balance remains oscillating and the movement continues to run. The Perpetual Calendar complication precisely calculates odd and even month and leap years without the need to correct the date. It's water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet, and there is a power reserve of 55 hours at full wind. The 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The automatic self-winding Glashutte Original caliber 100-02 is rhodium-plated, with striped/ribbed embellishment and hand engraved designs, and with beveled component edges. It's constructed with 59 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a screw balance with 18 weighted gold screws. There is a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, a self-compensating flat balance spring, a swan neck regulator, and a 21K gold segment rotor. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
