More about Vintage GMT Master "Pepsi Bezel" Matte Dial 1966

This is a vintage 1966 stainless steel Rolex GMT Master Pepsi Bezel 1675. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has a Twinlock winding-crown protected by crown guards, and a solid screwed down case back, inside of which is engraved "MONTRES ROLEX SA – GENEVA – SWITZERLAND – PATENTED – STAINLESS STEEL – 1966." The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, straight lugs, and flat angled fat font "Pepsi" red and blue knurled bi-directional rotating bezel, are polished/brushed. The bezel has a GMT 24-hour second time-zone graduation, with a triangular marker at the 24. The original glossy dial is black with luminous dot, baton, and triangular hour markers. It has a white perimeter minute/seconds chapter ring, steel Rolex "Mercedes" hands with luminous inserts, a center sweep seconds hand, and a fourth small red 24-Hour indicator with a luminous arrow tip. The date aperture window is at 3 o'clock, underneath a Cyclops magnification bubble. It has a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating. The 12.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex GMT Master 1675 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 1560 movement. It's rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment, and it's constructed with 25 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, a self-compensating freesprung Breguet balance spring, and Microstella regulating screws. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). The Rolex GMT Master 1675 was originally introduced in 1954, upon the request of Pan American Airlines for their pilots. On the "Pepsi" bezel, red signifies a.m., and blue means p.m.
