There is a screw-down solid case back secured with 4 screws and engraved with "Cartier – Automatic – Water Resistant," and assorted hallmarks. The 29mm by 35mm solid two-body case, integral lugs, and art deco bezel are polished, and there is an octagonal crown set with a blue sapphire cabochon. The dial is silver grained with painted black Roman numeral hour markers, blued epee hands, and a center sweep seconds hand that indicates on a perimeter minute/seconds scale. There is a date aperture window at the 6 o'clock position, and the secret signature is at 7 o'clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 6mm thick case, movement, and dial are all signed. This Cartier Tank Francaise W5000156 has a mechanical automatic Cartier caliber 220 movement that's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 20 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance-spring.
