More about Rolex 16570 Explorer II SS Black Dial "Swiss Only"

This is a stainless steel Rolex Oyster Explorer II 16570. It has a solid screw-down case back and a Twinlock screw-down winding crown with a crown guard. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, integral lugs, and 24-hour graduated bezel are polished/brushed. It has a black dial with luminous Rolex hands, a center red GMT hand with a luminous triangular pointer, a center sweep seconds hand, and applied luminous dot, baton, and triangular hour markers. The date aperture with a Cyclops bubble-magnifying lens is at 3 o'clock, and it has stop-seconds for precise time setting, and two time zones; the second time zone has independent rapid setting of the hour hand. Included is the Officially Certified Swiss Chronometer (COSC) certification. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Rolex Oyster Explorer II 16570 has a perpetual, self-winding Rolex caliber 3186 movement that's rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It has bidirectional self-winding via a perpetual rotor, a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers. It's constructed with 31 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions. It includes a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting.

The original Rolex Explorer II was introduced in 1971.
