More about Calatrava Champagne Guilloche Dial 18K Yellow Gold

This is an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava 5022J. The solid, two-body case, curved lugs, and stepped bezel are polished; the dial is distinctive yellow gold guilloche with applied yelllow gold Roman numeral hour markers, feuille black leaf hands, and an outer minute track. It has a small seconds sub dial at 6 o'clock. The strap is alligator leather with an 18K yellow gold pin buckle. The manual winding calibre 215 movement is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment and the quality stamp of the Seal of Geneva. It's constructed with 18 jewels, 130 parts, and the patented Patek Philippe Gyromax balance that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions. It includes a lever escapement, a shock absorber mechanism, and a self- compensating flat balance-spring. The mechanism that oscillates at 28,800 (4 Hz); the power reserve has a maximum of 43 hours and it's water resistant to 25 meters. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. Patek's Calatrava collection was first introduced in 1932 during the bleak days of the Depression, and it became the flagship line of the brand. The general design was based on the German Bauhaus movement in fine art that appeared in the early 1900's; Bauhaus translates as "school of building."
