More about Explorer II White Dial SS / SS

This is a 904L stainless steel Rolex Oyster Explorer II 216570. It has an integral stainless steel oyster bracelet with the folding Oysterlock safety clasp. It has a fixed, 24-hour graduated bezel, and a screw-down case back and winding crown with the Twinlock double waterproofness system. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case is polished and brushed. It has a white dial with luminous dot hour markers, luminous oversized hands, and a central sweep seconds hands. There is a date aperture with a Cyclops bubble-magnifying lens at 3 o'clock, and it has stop-seconds for precise time setting, and two time zones. The second time zone has independent rapid setting of the hour hand. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3187 movement is rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix decoration. It's constructed with straight- line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, hack mechanism. Dial, case and movement signed. The original Rolex Explorer II was introduced in 1971, the heir to the Explorer I, which was designed to be a precision guide tool for volcanologists, explorers, and speleologists. It features a standout 24-hour hand for telling daytime hours from night around the poles and underneath the ground.
