More about Pagoda 1997 5500G Commemorative Piece 18K White Gold

This is an 18K white gold Patek Philippe Pagoda 5500G. It has a leather strap with an 18K white gold buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 29mm by 41mm two body solid flared rectangular "bombé" shaped case, integral straight lugs, and curved bezel are polished and brushed. The case is ergonomically curved to hug the wrist. The dial is salmon/rose with applied white gold Roman numerals and an outer minute railway-style track. The feuille hands are white gold, and there is a rectangular small seconds subdial at the 6 o'clock position. The 9.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed, This Patek Philippe Pagoda 5500G has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 215 movement that's stamped with the quality seal of Geneva. It's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment, and it has a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 18 jewels, 130 components, a straight-line lever escapement, and a Gyromax balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions. It includes a self-compensating free-sprung Spiromax balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). This is one of the limited edition of only 250 pieces made in 1997 to commemorate Patek Philippe's new watchmaking center in Geneva. The Patek Pagoda was inspired by the case design of the famous 1940's Patek Eiffel Tower Ref #2441. The tools and dies used for the production of the Patek Pagoda were destroyed at the completion of the manufacture, guaranteeing there would be no more produced. The case back is inscribed "COMMEMORATION 1997 PAGODA". It includes the sterling silver medallion and the "Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres."
