More about Chronometre Resonance Platinum Gold Dial 38MM BRASS MOVEMENT PATRIMOINE

This is a .950 platinum F.P. Journe Chronometre Resonance Brass Movement "Dual Time" 38mm. It includes an alligator leather strap with a platinum tang buckle and scratch resistant sapphire crystals. This chronometer has resonance controlled twin independent movements with two escapements working together, a radical design that took twenty years of research. The side and top crowns are engine-turned in "cordes de Marseille" "rope" grips; the crown on the case band at 12 o'clock winds both movements and sets the hours and minutes of each dial independently, while the crown at 4 o'clock synchronizes and resets both seconds hands to zero. There is an exhibition sapphire display crystal case back secured with 6 screws, engraved with "FP JOURNE – RESONANCE – INV.FECIT – PT 950," and a serial number. The 38mm diameter round two-body solid case, curved lugs, and convex bezel are polished. The dial is warm champagne gold with the twin silver dials with guilloche centers, with black Arabic numerals, railway-style scales, and blued indicator hands are set within two white gold screwed "gasket" shapes, each with 3 white gold screws. Twin small constant running seconds dials are at the 6 o'clock of the time dials. There is a fan-shaped combined 40-hour power reserve with a blued indicator hand at 12 o'clock, it's water resistant to 25 meters/80 feet, and the 8.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This F.P. Journe Chronometre Resonance Brass Movement "Dual Time" 38mm has twin mechanical manual winding F.P. Journe caliber 1499-2 movements. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment, and it's constructed with 36 jewels, a shock absorber system, twin straight-line lever escapements, twin beryllium 4-arm balances with 4 adjustable timing weights, and self-compensating free-sprung balance springs, with both independent trains on a single plate. One escapement is fixed to a small platform that pivots around the second wheel with a rack-and-pinion mechanism that adjusts the distance between the two balances in order to find the most efficient synchronized position. The bridges and plates are 18K red gold, and the resonating engine keeps both movements synchronized. The mechanism oscillates at 21,600 vph (3Hz). The F.P. Journe Chronometre Resonance Brass Movement "Dual Time" 38mm was a groundbreaking timepiece introduced in 1999. It won the Watch of the Year jury award in Japan in 2003, and it received the grand complication prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve in 2010.
