More about Chronometre Resonance 18k Rose Gold 38mm BRASS MOVEMENT

This is an 18k F.P. Journe Chronometre Resonance Dual Time. This chronometer has resonance controlled twin independent movements with two escapements working together, a radical design that took twenty years of research. It has a two-body, polished, solid, case with a transparent back and 6 screws. The side and top crowns are engine-turned in "cordes de Marseille" texturing; the crown at 12 o'clock winds both movements, independently setting the hours and minutes of each twin subsidiary guilloche silver dial. The crown at 4 o'clock synchronizes both seconds hands. The dials have printed Arabic numbers for hours and minutes, with two independent oscillators. A combined power reserve with an indicator energizes both time zone displays; a subsidiary seconds sub-dial has zero reset. There is a railway minute outer track and black steel hands. The in-house produced manual winding, caliber 1499-2 mechanism, has 36 jewels, fausses cotes decoration, shock absorbers, twin straight-line lever escapements, twin beryllium 4-arm balances with 4 adjustable timing weights, and self-compensating free-sprung balance springs, with both independent trains on a single plate. It oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour; one escapement is fixed to a small platform that pivots around the second wheel with a rack-and-pinion mechanism that adjusts the distance between the two balances in order to find the most efficient synchronized position. The bridges and plates are made from brass and the resonating engine keeps both movements synchronized. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. This groundbreaking timepiece was introduced in 2002 and won the Watch of the Year jury award in Japan in 2003; it received the grand complication prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve in 2010.
