This is a high intensity titanium Grand Seiko Spring Drive 20th Anniversary "Lion" SBGA403. It includes a high intensity titanium case on an integral titanium bracelet with a three-fold push button release clasp and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. It has a signed screw down winding crown (with manual winding as well even though the movement is automatic) and there is a solid screw down case back engraved with "LIMITED EDITION – TITANIUM – MADE IN JAPAN – 9R15-OA-O – WATER RESISTANT 20 BAR." The 44.5mm diameter barrel-shaped solid two-body case, "Lion Claw" faceted lugs, flat unidirectional ceramic black 60-minute bezel with silver Arabic numerals every five minutes, and bracelet, are Zaratsu polished. The dial is a grey/brown feather pattern that changes with the light. It has diamond-cut luminous hour and minute hands, trapezoidal faceted hour indices, a gold center sweep second hand with a yellow needle tip and an oval counterbalance with a luminous insert, and there are luminous yellow square hour indices around a raised perimeter flange minute/second scale. It has a rectangular framed date aperture window at 3 o'clock and there is a fan-shaped gold power reserve indicator between 7 and 8 o'clock. It's water resistant to 200 meters/660 feet, it has a 72-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 14.3mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Grand Seiko Spring Drive 20th Anniversary "Lion" SBGA403 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Grand Seiko caliber 9R15 Spring Drive movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Tokyo embellishment and it's constructed with 30 jewels, an anti-shock system, a rotor with an 18K yellow gold Grand Seiko medallion, and instead of an escapement and balance wheel the Spring Drive’s Tri-Synchro Regulator performs as a brake controlling the release of energy from the mainspring at the correct rate to ensure the ultimate accuracy. The Seiko "Magic lever" mechanism allows the mainspring to drive a series of gears that in turn drive the rotor that generates a small electrical charge activating the electronic circuit and the oscillator, hence the incredible accuracy. The mechanism oscillates at a high frequency of 36,000 vph (5Hz). The Grand Seiko Spring Drive 20th Anniversary "Lion" SBGA403 was introduced in 2019 in a limited edition to 500 examples to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the spring drive technology.
