More about Pilot Saint Exupery Limited SS
This is a stainless steel IWC 3201 Antoine De Saint Exupery, IW320104. It has a hand-stitched seather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings. It has a screw-down solid case back with the engraved map of St. Exupery's pioneering airmail route from Toulouse to Casablanca, and a screw-down quick-set engraved pilot's winding crown. The 44mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is brown with the Antoine de Saint Exupery signature "A" at the 3 o'clock position, along with the date arch. The dial is metallic chocolate brown with luminescent Arabic numeral hour indexes and a triangle marker at 12 o'clock. There is an outer minute track Arabic numerals every five minutes, luminous sword hands, and a center sweep seconds hand. There is a power reserve indicator at the 7 o'clock position, and it's water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet. The 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding IWC caliber 30140 movement is rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 21 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted for temperature and 5 positions, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism. This homage to St. Exuprey is limited to an edition of 1178 examples. St. Exuprey, author of The Little Prince, was an early aviation pioneer and died fighting the Nazis in 1944.
