It has a solid screwed-down case back secured with 8 screws. The 46.2mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, small angled bezel and large crown are polished/brushed. The dial is black with luminous lozenge hands, luminous Arabic numeral hour markers and baton indexes, a center sweep second hand, and an outer minute/second track. There is a date aperture window at 6 o'clock, and a 7-day power reserve indicator with a red alert warning at the 3 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 60 meters/200 feet, and the 16mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Big Pilot ("Die Grosse Fliegeruhr, Automatic") IW500401 has a mechanical automatic self-winding IWC caliber 51111 movement, with a Pellaton winding system. It's rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment, and a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 44 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a Glucydur beryllium alloy balance with a high-precision adjustment cam on the balance arms. It includes a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism. It has a bidirectional rotor engraved "IWC - Probus Scafusia - Seven (7) Days Power- Reserve." It has a Soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 (3 Hz.
