This is a vintage 1951 18K rose gold vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava 1578. It has a blue alligator leather strap with an 18K rose gold tang buckle, an acrylic crystal, and a solid snap down case back. It has a pull-out signed winding crown, and the 35mm diameter solid two-body case, fancy spider lugs, and flat angled bezel are polished. The original dial is matte silver with applied faceted gold dart-shaped hour markers, large applied gold Arabic numerals at the quarter hours, and gold feuille leaf hour and minute hands. There is a perimeter black minute/second scale, and a blue center sweep seconds hand. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 8.5mm thick case, dial and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Calatrava 1578 has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 27 SC movement. It includes the Geneva Quality hallmark, and it's rhodium plated, with Cotes de Geneve embellishment. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a Gyromax monometallic balance that's adjusted for heat, cold isochronism and 5 positions, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a micrometer regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). The Patek Philippe Calatrava 1578 was introduced in the 1950's.
