More about Moonphase Power Reserve 18K Rose Gold Hobnail Bezel

This is a 1998 18K rose gold Patek Philippe Power Reserve Moon Phase 5015G. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching rose gold tang buckle, and scratch resistant sapphire crystals. It has a hinged back with a sapphire crystal exhibition display. The 36mm diameter four-body solid case, hobnail stepped bezel, and straight lugs with gold screwed bars are polished/brushed. It has a white lacquer dial with black painted Arabic numerals, black oxidized gold spade hands, and a railway-style perimeter minute track with black rectangular hour indices. The subsidiary seconds dial with black Arabic numerals, markers, and a black gold oxidized indicator hand is between 4 and 5 o'clock, and there is a 48-hour arched power reserve with black Arabic numerals and markers, and a red dot warning sector indicator at 10 o'clock. The color moon phase aperture is at the 7 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 25 meters/ 80 feet, and the 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Power Reserve Moon Phase 5015G has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber 240/154 movement that's rhodium-plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment and it's stamped with the Seal of Geneva quality mark. It's constructed with 29 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring, a 22K gold micro-rotor, and the patented Patek Philippe Gyromax balance that adjusts for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). Patek Philippe first introduced their moon phase complication in 1927; In 1977 they received a patent for their diminutive calibre 240 automatic movement, which would be placed in some of the greatest timepieces ever made, including this Patek Philippe Power Reserve Moon Phase 5015G, which was introduced in 1995. The hobnail style bezel was introduced in 1932 when the company debuted their first Calatrava designs.
