More about Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5050J-023 YG RARE VARIATION

This is an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5050J. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18K yellow gold double deployant Calatrava buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a screw-down exhibition sapphire display case back with the Calatrava emblem visible on the gold rotor. The 36mm diameter solid three-body case, curved downturned lugs, and cupped bezel are polished, and all hallmarks are clear and bold, including those underneath the lugs. The dial is grey with applied Breguet gold markers, gold feuille hands, and a blued centered sweep seconds hand. There is a retrograde date arch from 8 to 4 o'clock, with a blued indicator hand. There is a gold dot minute/second track around the perimeter. A day aperture window is at 9 o'clock, a matching window for the month is at 9 o'clock, and a leap year indicator is at 12 o'clock. The moon phase subsidiary dial is at the 6 o'clock position, and it has a 46-hour power reserve at full wind. It's water resistant to 25 meters/80 feet, and the 10.6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5050J has a mechanical automatic self-winding Patek Philippe caliber 315/136 movement that's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It has the Geneva seal of quality stamp. It's constructed with 31 jewels, a Kif shock protection device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a Gyromax balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, a 21K gold winding rotor, and a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). The Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5050J-019 was introduced in the mid 1990s, inspired by the 1930's Calatrava. This is the first Patek Philippe perpetual calendar with a retrograde fly back date produced in series. It was only in production for about 4 years.
