This is a vintage c. 1940's 18k rose gold Vacheron Constantin Vintage Triple Date "Cornes De Vache" 4240. It includes an alligator leather strap with a rose gold tang buckle and an acrylic crystal. It has a pull-out winding crown, two correctors for the date on the right-side case band at 2:30 and 4 o'clock, and there is a snap down solid case back. The 35mm diameter solid round two-body case, curved Cornes De Vache (Cow's horn) lapidated lugs, and stepped convex bezel, are polished with gadrooning striations around the case. The dial is silver with applied gold Arabic numeral hour markers at the even hours, faceted gold baton hour indices surrounded by a brushed gold reserve with red radial Arabic date numerals and a perimeter black hour/minute scale. It has gold pointed thin baton hour and minute hands, a thin blued date indicator hand with a red arrow tip. There is a recessed concentric circle gold guilloche constant running seconds subsidiary dial with black markers and a gold indicator hand at 6 o'clock, and it has twin rectangular day and month aperture windows underneath the 12 o'clock position with red Spanish printing. It has a 32-hour power reserve at full winding and the 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Vacheron Constantin Vintage Triple Date "Cornes De Vache" 4240 has a mechanical manual winding Vacheron Constantin caliber V 485 movement. It's rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic beryllium balance with timing screws that's adjusted to temperature, and a shock absorber system. It includes a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a swan neck micrometer regulator. The Vacheron Constantin Vintage Triple Date "Cornes De Vache" 4240 was introduced in the 1940's and was the historical basis for the current 1942 triple date from Vacheron Constantin. It was sold at an auction that celebrated Vacheron Constantin's Quarter Millennium anniversary.
